Consumer Robots Are Here!
By tinkerer
Great news! A new breed of consumer robots are here. What does this mean for you? Well, lets take a step back for a moment and think about the kinds of robots that already exist. The overwhelming majority are what can be described as industrial robots. In other words, these robots perform duties that are typically relegated to industrial applications such as the manufacture of cars, the manufacture of engines, and even the manufacture of candy. Obviously, these are not robotic devices that people at home have access to for their own personal use.
However, with advances in technology a new breed of consumer robots have been introduced. For example, did you know that there is a vacuum called the Roomba which is robotic in nature and that does not require any human interference? In other words, we are talking about a device that can literally clean all the floors in your home without you having to actually do anything. That probably sounds like science fiction. In fact, many people assume that the advances that have been made in robotic technology are so technologically sophisticated that the products themselves cost a small fortune to purchase. Nothing could be further from the truth. That is one of the reasons why consumer robots have made such incredible inroads during the past several years.

But it's not all about cleaning. Many of the consumer robots that have
been introduced have playful features and applications that have very
little to do with cleaning one's home or manufacturing products. We are
talking about robotic toys they can be incredibly fun to play with and
that will at long last get your child away from the computer and
television. So many parents are concerned that their children are
simply spending far too much time glued to the computer or watching
television all day. As a result, there has been a surge in interest in
robotic toys. Not only do these toys engage a child's mind, but they
also help pull them away from electronic devices that are constantly
surrounding them.
To the extent that you know of somebody who's birthday is coming up,
you may very well want to consider purchasing for them a Roomba vacuum
cleaner robot. Not only will this put a smile on the other person's
face, you will be giving them a very practical gift that can truly save
them a lot of time and money. Do not assume that just because somebody
has a traditional vacuum that you cannot purchase a Roomba robotic
vacuum for them. Remember, people are always interested in something
that is new and that will impress their friends. Here's a good site to check out if you're looking for information about iRobot Roomba robots.
Here's the bottom line: consumer robots are truly here to stay.
Regardless of whether or not you think this is a good idea or not, the
fact of the matter remains that people have truly embraced the robotic
entities both for amusement and as a mechanism through which to keep us
all safe and healthier. You do not need to look too far into the future
to see a day when robots will play a very big part of our daily lives.
